The Now

All we have is now.

I posted “All we have is now” last year on Facebook right about the time Michaela started to get sick and we didn’t know what was going on. Cancer takes so much from living life in the now.

It is hard to just live daily life when battling cancer. It is hard to get up out of bed when pain is so bad you can’t even sit in a chair for more than 30 to 45 minutes at time. Or stand for more than 5 minutes. Or walk without getting dizzy. Michaela lived in a constant state of battling cancer so there wasn’t energy to live life. We were so exhausted that even enjoying little moments were hard to grasp onto.

I regret not enjoying those little moments, but I also know Michaela wasn’t in a position to enjoy much of life.
